Crop output in farms of all types in the Republic of Belarus in 2017

In 2017 the total planted area under agricultural crops in farms of all types (agricultural organisations, private farms and household plots) was at 5 834,3 thousand hectares. The agricultural organisations accounted for 90.8% of the total sown area, private farms – 2%, household plots – 7.2%.

In 2017, 8 million tonnes of grains (in weight after processing) were harvested in farms of all types, with average yield capacity 33.2 centners per hectare. The leader in grain production is Minsk region (1.9 million tonnes, or 24.4% of total grain output).

The output of potatoes in farms of all types in 2017 was at 6.4 million tonnes. One hectare of harvested area yielded 232 centners of potatoes (205 centners in 2016).

The gross harvest of sugar beets in 2017 was at 4.9 million tonnes,with average yield capacity 493 centners per hectare (446 centners in 2016).
In 2017, 42.3 thousand tonnes of flax fibre were produced, or 102.4% compared to 2016.
The production of vegetables was at 2 million tonnes, with average yield capacity 295 centners per hectare against 276 centners in 2016.

The production of vegetables in protected ground was at 118 thous. tonnes, or 6% of total vegetable output.  The share of tomatoes in production of vegetables in protected ground is 58.3%, cucumbers - 40.5%, other vegetables - 1.2%.
The leader in production of vegetables in protected ground is Minsk region. In 2017 the region produced 53.1 thous. tones, or 45% of total output, of which tomatoes - 37.2 thous. tones (54.1%), cucumbers - 15.2 thous. tones (31.8%).
