Current expenditure on environmental protection in the Republic of Belarus in 2017

In 2017 current expenditure on environmental protection of organizations were BYN 919.7 million, or 100.5% at constant prices compared with 2016.

The structure of current expenditure on environmental protection shows that the biggest share is spent on the protection and rational use of water resources, which is 63.3% (BYN 582.6 million), spending on industrial waste pollution prevention accounted for 18.8% (BYN 172.9 million), and on air protection and preservation of the ozone layer and climate 14% (BYN 128.6 million).

The main volume of the total current expenditure on environmental protection falls on the manufacturing sector (51.9%), water supply, waste management and remediation activities sector (21.4%) and electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioning supply sector (18%).

In 2017 the biggest amounts of funds on environmental measures were spent by organizations of Gomel region (BYN 198.5 million, or 21.6% of the total current expenditure on environmental protection in the country), Vitebsk region (BYN 146.7 million, or 16%) and the city of Minsk (BYN 145.9 million, or 15.9%).
