Foreign investment in The Republic of Belarus from abroad and abroad from the Republic of Belarus in 2017

Investment in Belarus from abroad. In 2017, $9.7 billion were invested by foreign investors in the real sector of the economy (excluding banks).

The main investors of Belarusian organisations were economic entities from the Russian Federation (38% of the total investment), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (26.6%) and Cyprus (7.2%).

Gross foreign direct investment (FDI) was $7.6 bn, or 78.5% of the total foreign investment.

Investment from Belarus abroad. In 2017 the outward investment of Belarusian organisations (excluding banks) totaled $5.5 billion.

Significant investment was made by organisations of the country in the economic entities of the Russian Federation (66.9% of the total outward investment), Ukraine (17.3%), and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (7.6%).

Direct investment accounted for 93.8% of the total investment abroad.
