A.2. Ambient air quality in urban areas

download the file in Excel format for 2005–2022

Brief description:

The number of days during a year when air pollution levels (for selected pollutants) exceed the established limit values (maximum single/ daily average concentrations) in urban areas; annual average concentrations of pollutants in the air are also reflected;
The indicators are presented in the context of pollutants (particulate matter (РМ10), sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (СО), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ground-level ozone (O3) and selected cities (Bobruysk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk, Mogilev, Novopolotsk, Orsha, Pinsk, Polotsk, Svetlogorsk).

Annual average concentration of carbon monoxide in the air by regional centers
of the Republic of Belarus for 2005 – 2022

(microgrammes per cubic metre)

Annual average concentration of nitrogen dioxide in the air by regional centers
of the Republic of Belarus for 2005-2022

(microgrammes per cubic metre)

Methodology:

The indicator is derived from the data of stationary observations of the state air monitoring networks in the cities of the country

Data source:

The National Environmental Monitoring System;
The data producer is the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus.

Relevance of the indicator:

The indicator provides a measure of the state of the environment in terms of the atmospheric air quality and a negative impact of high concentrations of pollutants on human health and the environment.
