Brief description:

The stock of hazardous industrial waste at the beginning and at the end of the year, as well as the amounts generated and treated in Belarus – in total and by methods of treatment (recycling, incineration, landfilling, and other methods).

the Republic of Belarus in 2017




Methodology:

Industrial waste is classified by hazard category in accordance with the Classification of waste generated in the Republic of Belarus, where category 1 is extremely hazardous waste, category 2 is high-hazard, category 3 is hazardous, and category 4 is low-hazard. In addition, there is a “Non-hazardous waste” category;

The indicator I2 “Management of hazardous waste” comprises waste of hazard categories 1-3.

Data source:

State statistical report 1-отходы (Ministry of Environment) “Report on industrial waste management”;

The data producer is the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus.

Municipal waste: administrative data; the data producer is the Ministry of Housing and Utilities of the Republic of Belarus.

Relevance of the indicator:

The indicator provides a measure of anthropogenic impact on the environment.
