Press release "Fish farming activity in the Republic of Belarus in 2025"

In 2025, in reservoirs 15.4 thousand tonnes of fish were caught, of which commercial catch of fish accounted for 61.5% (9.5 thousand tonnes).

In artificial reservoirs fish farming organisations caught 9 thousand tonnes of fish (94.7% of total commercial catch of fish), in natural reservoirs – 0.5 thousand tonnes (5.3%). Carp accounts for more than 70% of the fish catch in artificial reservoirs. In 2025, 6331.1 tonnes of carp were caught. Of other fish species, the commercial catch of silver carp in artificial reservoirs was 779.8 tonnes, of salmonids 519.7 tonnes, of grass carp 203.3 tonnes, of sturgeon fishes 42 tonnes, and of sheatfishes 20.8 tonnes.

Organisations of Minsk and Brest regions are the leaders in the commercial catch of fish (3613.3 tonnes and 3158.8 tonnes correspondingly), their share in the national commercial catch of fish is 71.4%.

In 2025, organisations engaged in fish farming activity sold 9.1 thousand tonnes of fish, with 3.5 thousand tonnes of fish sold to the workers and population (38.6% of total sales), 2.1 thousand tones (22.9%) sold to trading organisations, and 2.1 thousand tones (22.8%) sent for processing.
