On November 15, 2018, Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Inna Medvedeva met with Head of the Eastern Europe Team of the Europe Division of the United Nations Department of Political Affairs Erwan Pouchous. The meeting was also attended by Advisor of the UN Country Office in Belarus Vyacheslav Shelegeiko, Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Elena Kukharevich, and Head of International Cooperation and Statistical Information Dissemination Department Irina Mazaiskaya.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of Belstat told Mr Erwan Pouchous about the coordinating role of Belstat in producing and monitoring the Sustainable Development Goal indicators, building partnerships in different areas of activity at the global, national and regional levels. Guided by the main principle of the 2030 Agenda "to leave no one behind", Belstat pays special attention to data disaggregation in all surveys, including to socially vulnerable groups. In this regard, Inna Medvedeva informed Mr Pouchous about the newly conducted household sample survey to comprehensively assess the situation of people with disabilities, as well as about the organization of the sixth round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey to assess the situation of children and women.

The parties also focused on the integration of the SDGs into the National Strategy for Sustainable Development until 2035, the launch of the SDG reporting platform, improvement of state statistical surveys to produce data on global SDG indicators.

In his turn, Mr Erwan Pouchous emphasized the commitment of the Republic of Belarus to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, praised best practices of Belstat in monitoring the SDGs and noted the effectiveness of cooperation of Belstat with the UN agencies.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue cooperation.
