The Meeting of the Group of Experts on Migration Statistics and the Workshop on the International Recommendations on Statistics on Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, and Statelessness were held on 6 – 8 May 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland


A meeting of specialists from statistical offices of the CIS countries on statistics for the Sustainable Development Goals is taking place in Moscow, Russian Federation, on 17 and 18 April 2024.


The development of data and indicators for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, economic and social statistics, climate change statistics, the System of National Accounts, international statistical classifications, population and housing censuses, open data and a number of other issues were considered at the 55th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (27 February – 1 March 2024, New York, United States of America). Natallia Tarasiuk, Deputy Chairperson of Belstat, took part in the event on behalf of the Belarusian side.


In Vienna (Austria) on February 7-9 under the auspices of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) an orientation seminar is taking place on the regional project "Improvement of industrial statistics and development of statistical indicators for the analysis of industrial development in some countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia".


On December 26, 2023 the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus hosted a meeting between the Chairperson of Belstat, Inna Medvedeva, and the Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Belarus, Rustam Khaidarov. The meeting was also attended by the First Deputy Chairperson of Belstat, Elena Kukharevich.


The Expert Group Meeting on Population Censuses (hereinafter, the Meeting) was held in New York (United States of America) on 11-12 December under the auspices of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the United Nations Population Fund.


The Meeting of the UNECE Group of Experts on Measuring Poverty and Inequality is taking place in Geneva (Switzerland) on 28 and 29 November 2023. The meeting is organized under the Conference of European Statisticians work programme on poverty statistics.


Census Week 2023 is being held on September 18-22 in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).


Within the framework of the third session "Modern statistics from the user's perspective" of the International Forum of Producers and Users of Statistics, held on September 12-14, 2023, the head of the Coordination and Development of the Statistical System Department of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Alla Bilenko made a report on the topic "Users of official statistics: new requirements and tools for their implementation".
