14th meeting of the Statistical Council of Belstat and Rosstat was held on 27-28 May

Within the framework of the Programme of Work of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus and Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation the 14^th meeting of the Statistical Council of Belstat and Rosstat took place in the Gomel region on 27-28 May 2011.

The following issues were reviewed at the meeting:

1.   Statistics of information society: practice of survey organization and prospective directions of development;

2.   Quality management in statistics;

3.   Introduction of advanced information and communication technologies in statistical production;

4.   Computer system of state statistical bodies: current and prospective activity areas;

5.   Effectiveness of the use of paperless technology in drawing up the Annual Business Work Plan of Rosstat for 2011 and monitoring of its implementation.

Besides, organizational issues of the work of the Statistical Council of Belstat and Rosstat were discussed.

Decisions were taken to carry out joint consultations on the introduction of advanced information and communication technologies in statistical production; to continue work on the improvement of the quality of data provided to users on the basis of international quality standards for statistics. Main directions of further work of Belstat and Rosstat to ensure data comparability were identified.
