The main objectives of the project and its component D are to assist Partner Countries in developing institutional frameworks of energy statistics for the purpose of their harmonization in line with international standards, as well as improving methodological approaches applied for the collection and compilation of energy and energy price statistics, compilation of energy balances and calculation of energy efficiency indicators. The project also aims to support cooperation between government agencies in the field of energy statistics.
Within the framework of the mission a number of meetings were held in Belstat, the participants of which included not only statisticians, but also stakeholders from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Nature and Environmental Protection, Department for Energy Efficiency of the State Committee for Standards, and a number of research institutions.
During the meetings the international experts presented the assessment of the current system of collection and processing of energy statistics, compilation of energy balances, and their recommendations for their improvement. A special focus was made on the methodological approaches to the collection of data required for the compilation of energy balance and calculation of energy efficiency indicators in various sectors of the economy.
