The National Reporting Platform for Sustainable Development Goal indicators as the main tool for monitoring and dissemination of data on SDG indicators was presented by Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Elena Kukharevich at the ninth meeting of the Interagency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal indicators (IAEG-SDG), which took place on March 25 – 28, 2019 in Beirut, Lebanon. The meeting was hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
The IAEG-SDG was established by the United Nations Statistical Commission to develop a system of indicators for monitoring the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the global level as well as to support its implementation. The National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus has been a member of the IEG-SDG since 2017 and represents the Eastern Europe region.
During the meeting the members of the IAEG-SDG considered the issues related to updating the classification of the SDG indicators taking into account the methodologies presented by the custodial agencies, the general guidelines, criteria and timing of the 2020comprehensive review, the results of activities on data disaggregation, and shared their experience in monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals.
