Belstat organized a seminar for BSEU students

The National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus held an educational seminar for students of the Belarusian State Economic University on the topic “Digital universe of data of state statistics of the Republic of Belarus” in advance of World Statistics Day.



The seminar was opened by the Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Inna Medvedeva. In her welcoming remarks, she emphasized that the key tasks of government statistics are to ensure high quality and reliability of statistical data, as well as meeting the needs of all categories of users. She noted that it is government statistics that play an important role in providing a reliable information base for management decision-making at all levels of government. “For you, future specialists, it is necessary to understand the value of the statistical data and be able to use it in your future activities”, - appealed the head of Belstat to students. “Professionalism and achievements of Belarusian statisticians have long gone beyond the borders of the Republic. Our data, methods, practical achievements are considered and analyzed not only by the national but also global expert community. Our experience is presented on international platforms as an example of best practice. The Belarusian statistical system receives the highest ratings worldwide. I am sure that the information received today will not only be useful in the educational process, but also increase interest in your future profession”.



Belstat staff gave a presentation to the students, where they presented key information systems of Belstat. The seminar participants learned about the diversity of statistics collected by Belstat, covering almost all areas of society. Special attention was paid to digital platforms, which Belstat is actively developing. Interactive databases, the use of big data and new technologies such as artificial intelligence have also been demonstrated.



The seminar aroused lively interest among BSEU students. They actively asked questions, including about future careers in government statistics. The event allowed attendees to better understand the role and importance of government statistics in today’s digital world.
