The Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Medvedeva Inna participated in the 47th session of the UN Statistical Commission, that was held from 8 to 11 March 2016 in New York (USA).
During the session the following issues were submitted for discussion and decision-making: development of indicators for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and data presentation, implementation of the Transformative agenda for official statistics, improvement of collection, compilation and dissemination of national accounts statistics, environmental-economic accounting, information and communications technology statistics, refugee statistics.
One of the main important questions for the Republic of Belarus as well as for the international community was the question of the development of indicators for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Medvedeva Inna provided the stand of the Republic of Belarus on the issue. In particular in was mentioned that in general the Republic of Belarus supports the activity of the working group on development of indicators for monitoring of the sustainable development goals and considers it necessary to refrain from including in the list of indicators of the goals achievement the indicators without methodology of compilation or procedure of monitoring as well as indicators on witch there is no consensus of the international community.
As part of the session the Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee Medvedeva Inna held a range of meetings with heads of the national statistical offices as well as statistical offices of the interstate organisations.
Aspects of cooperation and future partnership of Belstat and Statistical Office of the EU (Eurostat) were discussed with the Director of Directorate A of Eurostat Pieter Everaers.
During the meeting with the Head of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation Surinov Eugeny it was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Statistical Council of Belstat and Rosstat in the Republic of Belarus.
Current cooperation issues were discussed with the Member of the Board (Minister) on the Main Areas of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Valovaya Tatyana, the Chairman of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sokolin Vladimir, heads of the statistical offices of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
