The delegation of Belstat headed by the Chairperson Inna Medvedeva is taking part in the 16th Meeting of the Heads of National Statistical Agencies of BRICS countries, which is taking place on October 27-29, 2024 in Kazan (Russian Federation).

Within the session devoted to modernization of statistical production, the Head of Belstat presented the experience of the Republic of Belarus on the development of state statistics.

Inna Medvedeva stressed that modernization of statistical production is the key aspect that allows national statistical agencies to adapt to new conditions and requirements of the society.

“The continuous process of development of methods, technologies and approaches to data collection and analysis has allowed Belarus statistics to ensure a high level of embeddedness in international standards of its conduct and the data ecosystem of Belarus. A solid legal framework has been created, the powers of the state statistical authorities have been strengthened”.

Inna Medvedeva noted that today the role of Belstat in the issues of supervising information flows has gone beyond the boundaries of the national statistical system.

“We participate in the creation of new and modernization of existing information systems, which allows to exclude parallel requests and makes it possible to reuse the data already collected in the country.”

The Head of Belstat spoke about the practice of using alternative data sources, implementation of the process approach and modern software solutions, which contributed to the improvement of statistical activities and optimization of available resources.

The Chairperson of Belstat also voiced promising plans to modernize the IT infrastructure. “The concept is based on the end-to-end technology of information collection, processing and dissemination, which will significantly improve the efficiency of statistical production through full automation of all processes.”

“Taking into account that the Republic of Belarus has received the status of a BRICS partner, participation in the meeting contributes to strengthening the cooperation of Belstat with the BRICS statistical community,” Inna Medvedeva summarized.
