Deputy Chairperson Elena Kukharevich took part in the capacity building workshop for EECCA countries and work session on gender statistics

A capacity-building seminar for the EECCA countries and work session on gender statistics organized by the UNECE were held on May 13 – 17, 2019 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Belarus was represented at the forums by Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, member of the National Council on Gender Policy under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus Elena Kukharevich.

At the forums, E. Kukharevich presented the experience of the Republic of Belarus in producing statistics on women's entrepreneurship and the results of the household survey on women's participation in decision-making at family level, held several meetings with representatives of UN Women on funding the creation of the data portal for dissemination and visualization of gender statistics, conducting the survey on violence against women, promotion and popularization of statistics on gender equality and progress towards the SDGs.

The participants of the forums considered the issues related to the production of gender indicators to monitor the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including business statistics from gender aspect, demonstrated innovations in the use of gender statistics, development strategies and identified priorities for further international conceptual methodological work on gender statistics capacity building.

E. Kukharevich also took part in the thematic sessions on implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development from gender perspective, communication of gender statistics, measuring gender identity, use of gender statistics in policy making and monitoring, economic empowerment and influence within households, institutional mechanisms to support gender statistics.
