The National Evaluation Capacities Conference "Leaving No One Behind: Evaluation for 2030" concluded its work in Hurghada, Egypt. It was attended by Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Head of the Interagency Working Group on Monitoring and Assessment of the SDGs Achievement of the Council for Sustainable Development Elena Kukharevich.
Conference participants discussed a wide range of issues of building national evaluation systems for inclusive sustainable development, got acquainted with the best international practices in terms of improving the efficiency of its evaluation, innovative developments in the field of strengthening evaluation capacity. The representatives of the participating states paid special attention to the issues of improving national systems for monitoring progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
Elena Kukharevich presented the experience of the Republic of Belarus in the field of strengthening national statistical capacity to implement the main principle of the 2030 Agenda "leaving no one behind", and told about the approaches to comprehensive assessment of the situation of persons with disabilities.
The National Evaluation Capacities Conference (NEC) has been held every two years since 2009. The event is organized by the Independent Evaluation Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The conference is a platform to discuss development issues and strengthen national monitoring systems.
