Workshop on Metadata Driven Statistical Production is being organized in Belgrade (Republic of Serbia) on 3-5 December 2024 by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) together with the European Free Trade Association, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia and the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus is represented at the event by its Deputy Chairperson Tsimafei Zhyharau. During the seminar Tsimafei Zhyharau presented the experience of the Republic of Belarus in publishing open statistics.
«Currently, for the publication of open data on the Internet Belstat uses quite an extensive set of information systems and resources. They are used to post information and analytical materials and data on more than 1,700 statistical indicators,» said the Deputy Chairperson of Belstat in his speech.
In its activities Belstat takes into account the needs of citizens and businesses for quality, reliable and timely statistical data. Being oriented to the users' requests, plans to re-engineer information resources designed for the publication of open data are currently being implemented. Today the interactive information and analytical system for disseminating official statistical information has already been modernized, which allows to significantly expand the possibilities of data visualization. The system contains statistical information in dynamics for a number of years on more than 800 indicators characterizing the economic, demographic, social and environmental situation in the country.
«Statistical information systems will become the basis of the national data management system being formed in the country, and the comparability of data at interagency and international levels will be ensured,» summarized Tsimafei Zhyharau.
