On September 4, 2018, Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Elena Kukharevich met with representatives of the Mission of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Dortmund International Education Center.
At the meeting, a wide range of issues related to the organization of monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Belarus was discussed.
E. Kukharevich told about the coordinating role of Belstat in the production and monitoring of the SDG indicators, establishment of partnerships at the national and international levels in different areas of the SDG implementation, activities on building statistical capacity for effective monitoring of the SDGs. It was noted that Belstat follows the main principle of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – leaving no one behind, and, when conducting all surveys, pays special attention to data disaggregation, including to socially vulnerable groups.
A wide range of issues related to the organisation of monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus was discussed at the meeting.
In turn, representatives of the Mission expressed readiness to help strengthen national capacity to implement the SDGs and fill data gaps, increase the role of public organisations in identifying priorities for sustainable development.
Based on the results of the meeting, the parties outlined the key areas of cooperation in the new phase of the German Federal Government's Support Programme for Belarus for 2019 – 2022.
