Participation in the 49th session of the UN Statistical Commission

First Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Kangro Irina participated in the 49th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, that was held from March 6 to 9, 2018 (New York, USA).

During the session representatives of the statistical offices of UN member countries and international organizations considered more than thirty issues including issues relevant for the Republic of Belarus. Of which - development of Guidelines on data flows for the Sustainable Development Goals; use of open data for official statistics; priority areas of work in the field of household surveys, the system of national accounts, statistical classifications; improving the collection, preparation and dissemination of data on environmental-economic accounting, disability, migration, labor and employment.

Kangro Irina presented the position of the Republic of Belarus on issues related to the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals achievement, the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting, climate change statistics and the updating of the Handbook of Statistical Organization.

As part of the session the representatives of the national statistical offices of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) under the chairmanship of the Member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (Minister) on Integration and Macroeconomics Valovaya Tatyana discussed the main areas of cooperation in the field of statistics.

During the session Kangro Irina also met with the President of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, Sergei Tsvetarsky, and discussed the issues related to the conclusion of the Agreement between the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria on cooperation in the field of statistics.
