Strengthening partnerships and identifying avenues for cooperation

At the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, a meeting was held between the Chairperson, Inna Medvedeva, and the UNFPA Deputy Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Klaus Beck, as well as the head of the UNFPA office in the Republic of Belarus, Olga Atroshchenko.

The main theme of the meeting was the collaboration between Belstat and UNFPA under the new Country Programme 2026-2030.

During the discussion, the parties paid particular attention to preparations for the planned population census of the 2030 round. Inna Medvedeva informed the participants that Belstat intends to apply the latest approaches to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy of this large-scale event. In particular, the active use of alternative data sources and modern information technologies are planned to use. This approach will not only significantly reduce the burden on respondents and census staff, but also improve the quality of information collected. In addition, the use of privately held data and the introduction of artificial intelligence will be an important step towards optimizing data collection and processing, thus making statistical information reliable and relevant.

The long-standing and fruitful cooperation between Belstat and UNFPA has already proved its effectiveness. Collaborative efforts in statistics, based on the exchange of experiences, offer new and even greater opportunities to achieve the goals of the new five-year programme.
