The meeting of the Group of Experts on Business Registers, organized under the Work programme of the UNECE Conference of European Statisticians for 2026, is taking place in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) from 21 to 23 September 2026. The event brought together around 90 experts from all over the world to share experiences and best practices in developing and maintaining statistical business registers.
The focus is on the topics related to statistical units and their characteristics, as well as new technologies in statistical business registers, including the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The Republic of Belarus is represented at the meeting by the First Deputy Chairperson of Belstat, Tsimafei Zhyharau and the Head of the Statistical Register Division, Sviatlana Nichyparuk.
As part of the session on statistical units, Belarusian statisticians presented national experience in geocoding statistical business register units using specially developed software and service for working with geo-information.
Thanks to the productive integration of state registries, open geo-data and public geoservices, Belstat has ensured high quality and accuracy of geocoding, as well as received modern tools for spatial analysis of data - clustering of precise objects, heat maps and hexagonal grids. The developed software product completely solved the problem of spatial binding of units of statistical business register, - noted Tsimafei Zhyharau.
