One of the tools for statistical assessment of the national potential of digital development, introduction of information and communication technologies in the sectors of the economy and spheres of society is the system of national statistical indicators of digital economy development, developed by the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, taking into account international approaches to it measuring.
For this used the aggregate groupings by economic activities "Information and Communication Technologies Sector", "Content and Media Sector" and "Digital Trade".
The list includes five blocks:
"Digitalisation of the economy" – reflects the performance of organisations in the ICT sector, the content and media sector and digital trade;
"Digital development infrastructure" – characterises the development of the national information and communication infrastructure, as well as services provided on its basis;
"Digital development of public administration" – represented by the indicator "electronic services and administrative procedures rendered through NAIS";
"Use of digital technologies by population and organisations" – characterises the transformation of business processes through ICT in modern society;
"Digital Transformation" – reflects the number of research, development and patents in the field of ICT.
The list of indicators is updated annually. This year it was supplemented with the following indicators: net profit of the digital economy organisations; share of subscribers of fixed broadband Internet access with data transmission speed 100 Mbit/s and more in the total number of fixed broadband Internet subscribers.
