Total passenger transport demand as well as passenger transport demand by mode of transport (road, railway, inland water, aviation and underground transport); total passenger transport demand per capita.

Methodology:

Passenger transport demand measures the volume of passenger transportation;

The unit of measure is passenger-kilometre, what means conveying one passenger over a distance of one kilometre;

It is computed as the number of passengers for each transportation multiplied by the distance in kilometers, with further summing up the products for all trips, separately for each mode of transport;

Passenger road transport demand comprises passenger car, taxicab, trolleybus and tramway transport.

The data producers are the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus.

Relevance of the indicator:

The indicator helps to assess the effectiveness of response measures for environmental protection against pollution.
