Belarusian side took part in the High-Level Expert Meeting

A high-level expert meeting on collecting and reporting data on children and monitoring the related Sustainable Development Goal indicators was held on November 19 - 22, 2018 in Tarrytown, NY, USA. It was attended by heads of national statistical offices, line ministries, and international organisations. The Belarusian side was represented at this meeting by Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus Inna Medvedeva.

The meeting specifically addressed the indicators of Goal 16 "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels", the sixth global round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey on Children and Women (MICS6), data dissemination and reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals using advanced technologies as well as the draft Guidelines on the Production of Data on Violence against Children developed by the UNICEF.

Chairperson of Belstat shared her experience in working with administrative data and conducting sample surveys to obtain objective information on violence against children.

At present, Belstat, under the international technical assistance project "Assistance in strengthening national statistical capacity in the production and dissemination of information on the situation of children, women and persons with disabilities to monitor the implementation Sustainable Development Goals by the Republic of Belarus", has started to organise MICS6.
