Press release "About the use of digital technologies by organisations in the Republic of Belarus"

The state statistical survey based on form 6-икт “Questionnaire of the use of digital technologies in organisation” covered 8974 respondents in 2024.

The survey showed that organisations actively used information and communication technologies in their work. So, the Internet was used by 99.3% of organisations, local area networks by 79%, Intranet by 30.8%, Extranet by 14.3%. More than half of organisations (60.8%) provided their employees with technical means (smartphones, tablet computers, etc.) allowing for wireless (mobile) access to the Internet.

Out of organisations with Internet access, 96.7% used fixed broadband access and 76.4% used wireless access. The connection speed above 30.1 Mb/s was used by 59.5% of these organisations.

The main purposes of using the Internet by organisations are as follows: submitting statistical reports, tax statements, customs and other documents (99.6% of organisations using the Internet); sending and receiving e-mails (99.2%); banking transactions (97.3%); receiving information about the activities of government bodies (organisations) (88.9%); receiving information about required goods (works, services) and their suppliers (86%); receiving or providing information services (80.1%); presenting information about organisation, its goods (works, services) (75.8%); searching for personnel (74.4%); remote work (68.2%); real time dialogue and advertising (64.7%).

Among the surveyed organisations, 71% had a website, with 72.1% of these organisations using it for publishing catalogues of goods (works, services) or price lists, 47.4% for posting job vacancies or receiving job applications, and 23.1% for payments through an electronic payment system.

In 2024, 41.2% of organisations used cloud computing services. Most often they used cloud services for receiving and sending e-mails (81.3%), accessing software provided by cloud services provider (58.9%); hosting databases and storing files (52.9%), hosting their own software (26.9%).

According to the survey, electronic sales of goods (works, services) using the systems of electronic data interchange (EDI) as well as special forms posted on the website or Extranet were carried out by 40.9% of organisations, electronic procurement of goods (works, services) by 64.9%.

Digital technologies have not only changed people's daily lives, but also actively infiltrated business processes, contributed to the emergence of new professions and digitalization of various sectors of the economy. So, 21.5% of surveyed organisations used the Internet of things in their activities, 15.3% used radio frequency identification (RFID), 13.7% used Big Data, and 5.8% used artificial intelligence.
